Juan E. Sereno is originally from Antioquia, Colombia. He received his B.Sc. degree in Control Engineering from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, MedellĂn, in 2017, and his M.Sc. degree in Industrial Automation from the same university in 2021. In 2018, he started a PhD scholarship at INTEC-CONICET in Santa Fe, Argentina. He obtained the Ph.D. degree in Mathematical Engineering from the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (Argentina) in May 2024.
Since September 2024, he has been a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Systems Medicine of Infectious Diseases Group at the University of Idaho. His current work focuses on developing adaptive digital twins—frameworks that integrate mathematical models with patient-specific data in real time to continuously recalibrate states and parameters.
